Grant Writer Guide
AVKO is a small non-profit organization that
could use government and foundation grants to help promote
its ideals and goals, and continue to provide low-cost
materials and free services to homeschoolers, educators, and
people around the world. Though AVKO has done some
grant writing in the past, we have not spent much time or
money on this in the recent past; we can provide some
resources and the necessary information for grants, but this
will be one of the more laissez-faire positions. We
can provide you with some print resources that will help you
write grants.
As a grant writer, you may
do any or all of the following:
- Research foundations, benefactors, and other
entities that have money to give to non-profits.
- Contact organizations with similar goals and clients
for networking, resources, and information on what they
have done for fundraising and grant writing.
- Examine the financial statements of AVKO and develop
budgets for grants.
- Write the grants.
- Follow up with those to whom we have submitted grant
proposals.
- Write thank you and thank you for your consideration
cards.
