page 3 I combine this program with teaching spelling rules. I love how my children get to work with word families and how the repetition sets things in their brains. I used it with students who did not have good phonics skills, and were sight learners. I also taught language skills, such as prefixes and suffixes with it. It helped them make sense of language, and using words correctly in sentences. They liked the instant correction, and the patterns of the words. It provided more success than any other program I have used. I think the book I'm using is just about perfect for my daughter who has poor spelling skills. It also is fine for my son, who is a great speller. It introduces words he wouldn't usually get in a traditional method, so his vocabulary is expanding. I have never found a spelling program that has worked until using Sequential Spelling. In the past, my experience with every other program used was that my children would do very well on their spelling tests but then not apply it to everyday writing. We love your program. As a busy homeschool mother, I would love to have your program as computer software, so that my kids could do it more independently. Gracias! I am very impressed with the book approach AVKO uses to teach spelling, and think the only thing that could make it better would be for the student to be able to do the lessons independently with some oversight by their parent or teacher. We love Sequential Spelling. It works for my son where traditional programs failed miserably. Sequential Spelling has been a real boon for my family of home educated children, which includes three children with specific learning difficulties. I have been particularly impressed with my dyslexic child's progress and the knock-on effect this has had in giving her the confidence to attempt to read independently at a more challenging level. I would appreciate explanations of words occasionally, especially when they are words unfamiliar outside the United States. The English/American English spelling variations are particularly useful. I have not found a spelling programme I like more and am very impressed with it. I expect a spelling program that makes sense. SS makes SO much sense I'm surprised that I haven't seen the method everywhere. Additionally, when my son spells the "big words" right, it gives him SUCH pride and confidence. We had no idea what we needed in a spelling program. All of our children struggled with learning differences. We just knew we needed something completely different from the typical spelling programs. We learned about this program through Sonlight Curriculum. We are so thrilled with the program. Our children's eyes are filled with excitement now instead of filled with fear about spelling. We are seeing improvements in self-esteem. I was wondering how to get my teenage boys through the levels, and God gave me this idea: I do Level 1 with all the 5 children once a day, and the two teenagers do levels 2 and three with each other. One day one of them is "teacher", and reads out the word, copies the word in his own book, and then the other checks his answer. The next day they swap roles. Since there is so much repetition they still learn to spell, but it saves me half an hour a day of teaching time. So next year I guess I will do level 4 with them all and they will do levels 5 and 6 with each other. That gets us through... I like being involved in my children's education, so I don't find it essential that I have little to no preparation. I do find Sequential Spelling very easy to use and it lets me focus my preparation time on other subjects, so it helps me keep a balance. I'm also very confident that it is working very well. I really like your program it has helped my son who is dyslexic. I wish you had some math helps for dyslexics as he also has to cope with that Thank you so much for making the patterns of English, volumes free with membership. It wasn't before, and those with the patterns are, in my opinion, key to my son's learning... Your spelling book is the best. I am an ardent fan, and making more fans in Redding each year.
